What hard water can do
As hard water is heated or evaporates, minerals can leave scale on fixtures, inside water heaters and on glassware. It can also react with soap, leaving residue and making lathering harder. Over time, scale may affect how some appliances and fixtures perform.
Test before choosing treatment
The right treatment depends on what is actually in your water, so testing your property's water comes first. Water softeners address hardness minerals; filters target other concerns. They are different systems and are not interchangeable.
